Porter’s 5th grade Science Project: Cheese or Peanut Butter-what do mice prefer?

The whole family helped out on the experiment.

Clayton and I were in charge of recording how long the mice chewed.

Porter was beaming to take his poster to school today.

At the school science fair he was among the 5th grade winners, and he was pretty excited because it means he gets to go to SARSEF (Southern Arizona Regional Science and Engineering Festival).

He was pretty happy to earn this medal at the school Science Fair. 

Then we went and set up his board at the SARSEF fair.

There are kids science boards ranging from 1st grade through High School. It’s a full room.

This is what the room looked like before all of the posters were even set up.

Heading out with our new baby stroller in tow…loving not carrying a car seat around.

Then we went out for dinner and celebrated Porter’s achievement. It was even cooler since we all helped him with the project.

 

Then later on the SARSEF fair holds a family fun night where there’s a ton of Science things to do and see.

The kids really loved these robots and spent a ton of time watching.

There was lots of Star War people for the kids to take pictures with. I guess Science=Star War nerds? Porter had to get a picture with almost all that we saw:) Marlee was scared of them, but eventually caved in to be in one of the pictures and Clayton opted out all together. 

There was this cool drawing station where you kind of wind up the pen holder and then let go and it colors on its own.

Porter did not end up in the winner bracket at this fair, he was disappointed, but we were so proud of him for being an entry.

On the way out of the building is one of the oddest collections/exhibits I have ever seen. It is these soft dolls of all the U.S. Presidents. They are only missing some of the very recent ones.
