soccer begins…

This year will be the boys 3rd year of competitive play and 2nd year of club. The season started out with the Utah Cup tournament.

Clayton’s team played twice today. Their first game was delayed because of rain and hail. It’s hard to tell from this photo, but those white chunks falling our hail. Thank goodness for our massive umbrella that keeps the baby and the rest of us dry and warm.

They lost the first game, but played pretty well, especially since most of them are new to the team and haven’t played together before. And the team they played has been together for years.

I’m so proud of Clayton, after the first game, he told his coach Rigo that he’d be willing to play keeper for half the game, so that Stockton (the only keeper) could play, too. He’s never played keeper in his life and he totally put himself out there and during a tournament. This kid is brave, confident and willing to try new things. He’s going to go far!

In the next game, Clayton played keeper for the second half. It was so exciting watching a game when your son is the goalie. He did great and had a good time. And Laun got back from work in time to see the last of the game.

Not only is he a great ball player, he’s such a good big brother to the littles. Sydney loves him.

I have mixed feelings that Carter looks so much bigger since we’ve brought Sydney home. I think he makes her a little nervous, because she doesn’t take her eyes off him.
