We always try to do something fun on Cooper’s birthday. It helps us to celebrate, rather than mourn (but I do that, too). We took the kids to Funtastick’s to play mini golf. This was our kids first time to mini golf…can’t believe we’ve never taken them before! They had a great time & Marlee has a horrible golf swing:)
When the golf ball didn’t go quite where Marlee wanted it to, she simply picked it up & placed it near the hole & then easily tapped it in- ha ha ha!
Laun & I took turns golfing- go team Parents!
Beginners luck or it could really be called Porter’s luck since he seems to always have luck or skill with everything. He got a hole in one.
We played some arcade games. The kids were excited to play the game Temple Run (they have that game on the iPad). Then we ate there, pizza & pop.
My parents send us money each year to help us celebrate Cooper’s birthday, we use it to do something fun (today that was golfing). My brother Andy’s family always does something, too. This year they sent us a card & gift certificate to Texas Roadhouse. Love you all, thanks for thinking of our birthday boy.
Tonight Lucy & Jeff came over, so I had Lucy take pictures of us…
We release balloons every year for Cooper’s birthday for however old he would be, so tonight we had 6 balloons to fly up to heaven for Cooper. It would be cool if balloons in heaven lasted forever, if so, Cooper will have a crap load of balloons by the time we get to heaven:)
We have to hold on to Marlee’s balloon until it is time, otherwise she’d get so excited & release it before we were ready.
If you look closely you can see the balloons floating…almost in the shape of the dipper.
We also have a tradition of drinking flavored milks on Cooper’s birthday. When Cooper & I were in the hospital & the boys would come visit, Laun would take the boys to the hospital cafeteria to pick out a flavored milk. Flavored milks remind us of that time & of our Cooper. Cheers to Cooper!
I made angel food cake with berry whipping cream to celebrate the birthday boys. Today is also Grandpa Hall’s birthday.
I love these traditions & it makes me happy that we are remembering & celebrating our Cooper. Happy 6th birthday buddy, hope your day rocked!
