Carter “helping” me make Porter’s birthday breakfast.
Porter requested crepes…I’m pretty sure that he’s had the same birthday breakfast for years now. And Marlee is grumpy that it’s all about Porter today, she needs an attitude adjustment, hahaha.
Cream cow tradition lives on.
Thankfully my brother Richard sent me this cream cow as a gift recently because almost all our cows are packed and will stay that way until we move again!
I went to a parent teacher conference for Marlee, she is doing great. Her teacher wrote on her progress report that she’s making great progress with reading and writing and that her goal can be to learn all the sight words. I’m so proud of our kindergartener.
Today at the elementary school was the fun run, so we joined in after visiting with Marlee’s teacher.
Waiting at the starting line…
Marlee and Carter
We made a gig circle around the school-neighborhood. I love the view as we were walking towards the finishing line.
Carter was pretty comfortable with his set up and dozed off.
Marlee and a friend enjoying their popsicles.
Marlee was pretty excited about her medal for finishing the walk.
For Porter’s dinner he requested: steak, mashed potatoes, corn, homemade rolls with cinnamon butter and we had lemonade. Good choice!
He chose an ice cream cake…
He got $20 from his Turley grandparents.
I love when Porter opens presents because he has the best facial expressions.
We always give the kids $40 cash or gifts worth that amount and he chose cash.
His siblings got him a dartboard, needles for his sport pump and soccer cones.
He was excited to use the cones as goals and play some soccer. Clayton and Porter are so lucky that they have so many similar interests.
11 Things I love about Porter:
1- He is fearless (that doesn’t mean he never gets scared, it just means he doesn’t let his fears stop him).
2- He’s got motivation. If he wants it, he’ll do what it takes.
3- He got a sweet 6 pack of abs.
4- He has a huge smile and the best facial expressions.
5- He is an amazing story teller (probably because as you see from #4 he has good expressions)
6- He is smart as a whip. He skipped 1st grade and excels in school.
7- He’s not only book smart, he’s street smart.
8- He’s wise beyond his years and is good at teaching others.
9- He may be short, but he can put up a good fight, and usually win.
10- He’s a little scriptorium, he’s read the Book of Mormon all the way through on his own and is now in the Bible.
11- He is funny and has one obnoxious laugh.
We love you Porter and we are so glad that you are part of our family. You have an intensity for life that we love.
